“A Minnesota man who killed two teenagers who broke into his home can be heard on an audio recording talking to himself for hours after the shooting and at one point, apparently describing the slain teens as “vermin”.
Byron Smith of Little Falls faces first-degree premeditated murder charges in the deaths of 18-year-old Haile Kifer and 17-year-old Nick Brady on Thanksgiving Day in 2012.

First and foremost it’s wrong that those kids broke into his house. Obviously that’s absolutely not okay and they should have been put behind bars. Period. But the fact that this dude sat there with the intention to kill them and then did, crosses all lines. There are plenty of other things he could have done to take action instead of going for kill-shots and ending their lives. Now he’s the one that’s fucked and rightly so. He took this incident to a whole new level.
I don’t know how long it’s going to take for someone in the US to really take action against guns because this shit is getting ridiculous.

If he had simply been waiting and shot the kids and called the police it would be a justified shooting. What makes it an obvious case of murder is the fact that he shot them and then made kill shots to make sure they were dead. I’m all for defending your home and though I am a Democrat am also pro gun. I believe if you take away guns through the law then you will only have criminals with guns. Not to mention if you think the corporations have control now, wait and see what happens when we lose our guns and they gain more control.
Have any of the commentators been the victim of vandalism, burglary or other home invasion before? Have a single one of you? It’s easier to say you wouldn’t do any such thing and would involve the police but something entirely different when someone has shattered your sense of security and safety. I wake up throughout the night any times our dogs move, and nobody can ever replace that sense of security or safety. I’ve had my car and home vandalized and broken into repeatedly and by complete strangers (judging from neighbors who’ve likewise been victimized). Until you have been repeatedly victimized in this way, and then find law enforcement doesn’t exactly make bringing those responsible to justice a top priority, you have no room to judge.
If the kids had not broken into the house, they would still be alive. You give up your own safety once you break the law.

Which means he never reported that he had guns allegedly stolen. How is that “responsible” gun ownership? I hope he rots in prison.
