Iowa State vs UNC in March Madness 2014 proved that sometimes those working in the arena have an off-day. The Cyclones’ DeAndre Kane scored with just 1.6 seconds left to give his team the lead. Then as the Tar Heels inbounded the ball the clock operator did not start…the clock. Nate Britt attempted to call timeout but the referees checked the monitor, noticed the clock did NOT start, and ended the game. Odd, yes but Iowa State advances to its first Sweet 16 since 2000 and when Marcus Fizer was DOMINATING.
