Tony Gwynn was not just the most legendary San Diego Padre to play the game of baseball, he was one of the rare players to ever grace the game. One of the best hitters to live, Gwynn raked in 8 National League batting titles and is a part of the 3,000 hit club. It was a no-brainer when he was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. It is a sad day in sports because of Gwynn’s passing, who was battling Salivary Gland Cancer for close to 5 years now. Gwynn was most recently the head coach of the San Diego State University baseball team and has been a part of the baseball scene his entire life. R.I.P. Tony Gwynn, America’s past time lost one of its greatest icons.
