Firearms are great for personal defense. Regardless of how many firearms there are in the room, if someone attacks you, your abilities to defend yourself from violence are much greater if you are armed.
It’s creepy that people have a “blind spot” to this.
I’m pretty “liberal” as the rednecks say in the area I live in. That being said I am completely pro gun. The area I grew up in (Memphis TN) provided insanely easy access to guns. It required about the same amount of searching for weed to get an unregistered gun. I own 6 guns for protection. 2 carries, 1 in my car, and 3 placed in common areas in my house that are out of reach and locked so kids cant use them but where me or my roommate can get to it if need be. I was in 2 school shootings when I was growing up and I started to carry one myself when I was 14 for protection. Ignorant people can get guns easily and use them for dumb reasons and I do feel I need to have a gun for my own protection.
