Arizona’s Republican state representative Carl Seel has proposed legislation to criminalize the use of public facilities like restrooms and roads for undocumented immigrants. As Ana Kasparian points out in her latest #NoFilter rant, Seel’s bill is not actually aimed at protecting the public or minimizing taxpayer dollars spent on “illegals”; in fact, much like the controversial SB 1070 law, this bill is actually a thinly disguised effort to funnel millions of taxpayer dollars to the private prison corporations that would house all the undocumented workers, often for months at a time, before they’re deported to their home countries. Is it a coincidence that the private prison industry is a major campaign contributor to Republican elected officials?
