A New Yorker magazine article about Atlantic City contained the story of a former Trump Casino worker about the way he and other employees of color were treated on the job when “the boss” was around…

Brown said, “When Donald and Ivana came to the casino, the bosses would order all the black people off the floor. It was the eighties, I was a teen-ager, but I remember it: they put us all in the back.””*

  1. Saw Cenk’s commentary on this. I Am no DT fan. But, I think there is a perspective here you haven’t considered. Blacks in Atlantic City hold most of the maintenance jobs at the casinos. (This is the lie told to the residents in the ’70s to get gambling passed. It’s economic opportunity!)
    So, could it be that casino managers told the maintenance workers not to be cleaning floors and emptying trash when DT and entourage walked through the casino? That would be a very typical request for a visiting CEO. Doesn’t make it right, but doesn’t prove he’s racist at least not in this instance.
