How To: Taylor Swift Bad Blood Makeup Tutorial! (Installment #1)

Hi guys! This week Styleogue goes behind the scenes of a Bad Blood Music Video parody to show you how to get Taylor Swift’s smoldering smokey cat eye look.

Playing the role of our beloved Tay in the music vid is Jayde Lovell (TYT’s resident science geek and co-host of Styleogue), and in this tutorial we see her getting made over by NYC-based makeup artist Maya Rene. We love this re-creation of Tay’s badass revenge look…. and it’s also similar to the makeup on Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Lena Dunham in the vid too!

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1
Take a black eyeliner and color in your whole eyelid. We are going to smudge this, so don’t worry about making it perfect, but make sure to wiggle the eyeliner between your lashes so that no skin is showing.

Step 2
Take a blending brush and blend the black eye shadow. For the eyes, it doesn’t really matter whether you use a natural brush or a synthetic brush. Jayde has hooded eyes so we are bringing the black all the way to the crease to give the illusion that the eye is more open.

Step 3
Take some concealer and buff it over the brow bone to hide some of the larger creases around the eyes.

Step 4
Using a flat brush, take some black eyeshadow, tap it to remove some of the excess, and put it over the eyeliner from Step 1.

Step 5
Take a clean blending brush and buff out the edges of the eyeshadow. This blending is really important in achieving the nice smokey ombre effect we’re going for.

Step 6
Line your upper and lower waterlines. This technique is also called ‘tightening’. Again, wiggling the liner in between the lashes will help make sure you don’t get skin peeking through.

Step 7
Take a blending brush and blend the eyeliner on the lower eyelid. This makes it a little softer and a little less top heavy. While blending, follow the bottom lash line and flick up to start the cat-eye.

Step 8
Tap on some more black eye shadow.

Step 9
Buff some bronzer over the crease of your eyes. The brown helps to break up the black and make the smokey cat eye look more controlled. Using a smaller brush, apply the bronzer under your bottom lashes as well.

Step 10.
Apply liquid liner all the way to the inner corner of your eye following the flick you made earlier as a guide. Blend it out to soften it a bit.

Step 11
Apply fake lashes! Make sure you trim them to fit your eye before putting the in and wait for the glue to be tacky before applying them, so they don’t slip around.

And there you go! Taylor Swift’s eye makeup from her “Bad Blood “ video. The perfect look to take revenge on those who have wronged you.
