KKK Grand Wizard Statue Removed From Memphis Site

The Memphis City Council is taking a step in the right direction, unanimously voting to remove a monument to Nathan Bedford Forest, the first Grand Wizard of the KKK. Forest is infamous for a Civil War massacre of 200 surrendering Union troops. Hosts Ana Kasparian (The Point) and John Iadarola (Think Tank) break it down. “The Memphis City council took steps on Tuesday to begin the process of removing a monument to Confederate War General Nathan Bedford Forrest, the nation’s first Ku Klux Klan “grand wizard.”

In an unanimous vote, the council approved a resolution for the removal of Bedford’s remains from under a statue in his honor that currently sits in Health Sciences Park on Union Avenue.”*
