John Iadarola (https://twitter.com/jiadarola) and Jimmy Dore (https://twitter.com/jimmy_dore) filling in for Cenk Uygur (http://www.twitter.com/cenkuygur) host of The Young Turks discuss a court case ruling in favor of a bakery in Colorado that refused to bake cakes with Anti-Gay slurs on them.
“In March 2014 Bill Jack, founder of Christian camp service Worldview Academy, asked Marjorie Silva’s Denver based Azucar Bakery to make him several bible shaped cakes with ‘god hates gays’ written in icing. Other than being the stupidest cake ever requested, Silva had to decline, not feeling that spreading hateful messages was a thing that good people do. Jack filed a complaint with the Department of Regulatory Agencies because he believed he was being discriminated against based on his religious beliefs based on two thousand year old story of a guy who was brutally murdered for saying we should all be a little nicer to each other. The DORA ruled in Silva’s favor, stating that Jack’s request as a customer could be denied as it was based on ‘derogatory language and imagery’.
Silva is herself a Catholic, which the DORA made a point of noting in its final report.”
