Schizophrenic killer Scott Panetti was granted a stay of execution by a US federal appeals court just hours before his planned execution. Panetti was on death row for the shooting of his ex-wife’s parents in 1992. Panetti won support from his lawyer and various human rights groups who pushed for a more recent psychiatric evaluation in order to determine his criminal liability.
