This “Consent Is Sexy” Video Is Anything But Sexy.

“California’s new “affirmative consent” law is setting a different precedent for how college campuses handle sexual assault cases.

This landmark law mandates that both partners issue “an affirmative, conscious and voluntary agreement to engage in sexual activity.” It acknowledges that fear or other factors may prevent a potential victim from saying “no” to sexual activity, so it shifts the burden to obtain consent to what would be the possible perpetrator.

So what does this mean, and what are the implications of the law? The Huffington Post’s Senior College Editor Tyler Kingkade and HuffPost Live’s Marc Lamont Hill on Tuesday spoke with Julia McCarthy, a sophomore at UCLA, and Northwestern University student William Altabef about how to make consent sexy, and what the law means for students.” *

  1. Okay so I had an experience with a guy who asked for consent at every stage. it was so too sexy. And so was the video (in my opinion). And to add to the comment, in this same experience, we were in bed and almost naked making out and touching and everything but when it came to intercourse, I was so glad he asked because after going so far I didn’t know how to tell him I didn’t want to do that but I was able to respond “no” when he asked. And then we talked about how I felt and continued doing what we were doing before. It was awesome! We ended up having consensual sex a little while later.
