Immense Lie About ISIS Spreads Fear, Confusion & The Republican Message

“Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) claimed Tuesday that “at least” 10 Islamic State fighters were apprehended while attempting to enter the U.S. at its southern border.

The San Diego Republican said U.S. Border Patrol “sources” told him that “at least 10 ISIS fighters have been caught coming across the Mexican border in Texas.”

“If you really want to protect Americans from ISIS, you secure the southern border — it’s that simple,” he said. “They caught them at the border, therefore we know that ISIS is coming across the border. If they catch five or 10 of them then you know there’s going to be dozens more that did not get caught by the border patrol,” he said on Fox News’ “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.””* The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur & John Iadarola break it down.

  1. Look, one of them is actually lying, which one, I’ll leave that up to you. I can build a better case as to why the head of homeland security would lie. If in fact it is true, he is not doing his job, an the shit will hit the fan. Let us not forget the IRS and Veteran Affairs scandals. To convict Hunter of lying, is wrong. You are basing that conclusion on the case that there were no reports of it. I’m not an advocate for the republican party, but Hunter made a statement that he just needs to back up with some facts, and the head of homeland security would make sure those facts wouldn’t get out, wouldn’t you agree?
