  1. Seriously? The “fat acceptance” movement is a fucking movement for fat people it’s a movement for the ridiculous scrutiny that predominately women endure. Movements like what Dove has done are not about making obesity OK. It’s about not making it OK to have size 10 plus size models. It’s about speaking out against making normal people feel like there is something wrong with them. Hearing that someone has said this enrages me, because the person these movements are trying to reach out to are not unhealthy obese people, but women like me. I grew up pretty fat. My bmi is classified as overweight,, not obese. I’m a size 12 and ever since I was in high school I’ve dealt with the remarks and sentiments directed to me from my peers and, worse, my family. My one pair of “fat” pants are a 14, which is the supposed American average. Having people give me dirty looks for finishing my plate and looking at the models with their bones sticking out in magazines, must have clearly had an effect because,no surprise, I’ve been oscillating between anorexia and bulimia ever since I was a sophomore in high school. I’m not just saying this shit to make a point, I’m saying it because I saw this in my Facebook newsfeed and was irked enough that I had to leave a comment. That fact that it is men making this lapse of judgement speaks for itself. No man has ever has to endure the psychological pressures to be thin that a woman has. These “fat acceptance” movements aren’t about making it okay to be obese. It’s about making it okay for women to be okay with their bodies instead of striving for a size 2 body they may not even be physically possible of achieving. Plus, it’s not right to automatically jump to conclusion about people’s weight. I know I used to be judgmental of all the super obese people going around in their scooters to the grocery store, but it’s really not fair to pass those judgements because they may have a valid medical reason for being overweight.

  2. Aaron, I think you have a valid point, but you state you are a fan and have listened to Rogan’s podcast previously. I think this topic has come up several times and during precious podcasts Joe has gone in depth about how hard it is for a fat person regarding just resisting the temptation to eat, or the temptation not to exercise (even walk as exercise) as it becomes a taxing battle of will to just not eat in excess. I do not know which episode, or I would cite it, it is just that taking such an emphasis ones stance against one thing stated during a three hour span seems a bit much. Again, like you said, for me the is a hedge, TYT is the shit and not everything said is necessarily something I feel is righteous, but I respect the freedom to state it. You disagree with what he said, so be it, but isn’t it a bit hypocritical to refer to freedom when considering the actions of others but avoid said freedom when responding to Joe? Screw being politically correct. Bottom line is that no one wants to be fat. Can we agree there? I interpret Joe’s statement to be the acceptance of being fat as if it were just a fact and unavoidable. It isn’t about an individual person or people, it is about accepting fatness as ok. Like accepting angry people just because they are angry. Or perhaps accepting gambling instead of acknowledging it is a problem. We are all just too damn sensitive about shit it seems. I’ve gone on long enough, I’ll look forward to future reports from you. If you happen to read this, I hope you are well and making more content.

  3. hunting and doing recreational drugs is a false equivalency to overeating….there are no known side effects associated with rare recreational drug use whereas there are known significant side effects of obesity due to overeating. Fat shaming is counter productive but accepting a gluttonous lifestyle should be looked down by society. besides its not fat that is beautiful…its the person inside and one should be able to make that distinction and not be prejudiced against fat people.

  4. If you want to use science to support your argument, I suggest you actually look up the science and not guess. People that do know the science are not impressed. Genetics influences the predisposition not rewrite the laws of thermodynamics.

    1. Thermodynamics does not correlate to weight loss. Humans are governed by their hormones. The old argument of reducing energy in & increasing energy out might work on machines but biological organisms are more complex. The body can use glycogen, fat or even protein for fuel. Two individuals might have the exact same diet & do the exact same amount of exercise but due to biological factors one burns fat & the other burns muscle. This in turn will affect their metabolism & whether they will regain the weight they lost. Calories in vs calories out has been debunked time & time again, even the types of calories consumed has an effect on weight loss.

  5. Statistically it’s a very small minority who are morbidly obese due to genetics and even then with eating right they still won’t. But with fat acceptance, which is fine on its own, people are basically saying “I don’t need to eat right, fat is beautiful.” and proceed to eat a horrible amount of food. Or say “it’s my genetics” turn around and eat a whole gallon of ice cream. With an “meh. You’re fat or skinny whatever.” mentality gone and this “Thick people are more attractive than skinny people and fat people are just extra curvy.”, people are making bad health decisions because they are getting a positive influence on their weight and acting accordingly.

  6. * I agree with you 100%. I’ve heard Rogan before and he seems to be a smart guy, and SOMETIMES he even talks like he is, but he was way out of line on this one. I mean, who the fuck is he to judge anyone? He should do what he wants and let others do whatever they want. It’s not like he can stop people from over-eating and smoking a cigarette because he disagrees with it, just like he can’t stop people from disagreeing with him every time he smokes a joint and goes hunting. I say, live and let live. If he doesn’t like it, he can fuck off! I’m 6’2″ and 226 lbs. of solid muscle, but I don’t go around harping on other people if they’re overweight just because they don’t look like I do. Who knows? These people could be depressed about losing a loved one or something else and to suppress their feelings, they eat a lot and gain weigh from it. Maybe it is just a genetic thing they’ve suffered with their whole lives. The fact of the matter is, no one really knows other people’s problems until they actually sit down and talk with them. Talking AT other people just makes you an ass hole who may just have underlying questions about your own character. Come on Joe, is radio really that much pressure on you that sometimes you just come out and say anything even if it doesn’t make any sense? Because that’s what it seems like. Get a grip on your own reality and get your head out of other people’s asses. You belong on a show that’s put together with a director like ‘Fear Factor’ and maybe commenting on MMA fights, but that’s about it.
