Man v. Food star, Adam Richman, loses 70 pounds and shares his success on Instagram using #thinspiration. His post was met with criticism from online commenters who feel his hashtag was inappropriate. Richman’s response was controversial to say the least. Cenk Uygur (http://www.twitter.com/cenkuygur) and Ana Kasparian (http://www.twitter.com/AnaKasparian) discuss.
“Days after he was caught telling a female critic on Instagram that she should kill herself, Adam Richman’s new show on the Travel Channel was abruptly cancelled before its premiere without a public explanation.
Man Finds Food was supposed to premiere on July 2, but had caught flak on last week after the omnivorous host posted a weight loss photo on Instagram and used the tag #thinspiration. When fans asked him to not use the term, as it’s often used on Instagram to tag pro-anorexia and pro-bulimia material, he flipped out, to put it lightly: ‘Don’t come to me with childishness when a hashtag throws you into a tizzy of posting comments and ‘never watching you again,’ he wrote in one deleted comment. ‘Seriously — grab a razor blade & draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you.'” *
