Stephanie George was sentenced to life in prison after police found drugs that her ex-boyfriend stored in her house– it was her third strike under imposed mandatory minimum sentencing. Recently, President Obama commuted her sentence, though she’d still spent 17 years of her life imprisoned. Cenk Uygur previously spoke out on the injustice of her case (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWyivsU9_Rk) in light of ridiculously lenient treatment for Wall Street criminals. Now, Stephanie George tells Cenk her story, clearing up questions and explaining how the war on drugs and mandatory minimum sentencing harms Americans.

  1. I am Australian and I understand the three strike prison conviction. This seems to everyone in Australia something that third world countries do. Way ridiculous and I am certain that there would be very few white people spending such large terms of prison sentences. Furthermore, the rest of the world looks suspicious of the US. In fact we believe that the US is tumbling towards being a second rate country with poverty being the worst of any western country.
