“Seeing Things,” Episode 3 of True Detective, “The Locked Room” starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson is reviewed. Detective Cole denounces organized religion in a near-epic-level speech, while Detective Hart (Harrelson) gives his character a very fascinating look under hit quickly-unraveling veneer as we learn more about his marriage and the very interesting relationship he has with his wife.

Detectives Martin Hart (Harrelson) and Rustin “Rust” Cohle (McConaughey) investigate the murder of a woman’s daughter while one detective copes with the death of his own child and the other carries on an affair. Both deal with anxiety and cope in their own ways as this episode takes a dip into the past- will the series take a very dark turn?

Alonso Duralde (Thewrap.com and Linoleum Knife podcast) and Robert Abele (Film critic, Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly) discuss episode 2: “Seeing Things” on HBO.
