#DemocracySpring kicked off with a rally and march on the US Capitol, followed by a mass sit-in that resulted in over 400 people getting arrested for civil disobedience. Democracy activists traveled to the United States capitol from all over the country to demand an end to legalized corruption worsened by the Supreme Court’s “Citizens United” decision of 2011, and a restoration of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which was gutted by the same narrow 5-4 corporatist majority on the high court in 2013.
