Just a question. It is my understanding that Cenk has said now multiple times that the situation arose because Garner was selling unlicenced cigarettes. I’ve heard this claim from other sources as well. Is this based on the first video or some statement by NYPD or something similar? Which statement? What exactly was said and by whom?
I’m curious, because I was under the impression from the first video that Garner had just broken up a fight, which had drawn in the police. It is further my understanding that the police then start harassing Garner because of earlier incidents of selling unlicenced cigarettes or at least suspicions of selling them. In other words, Garner wasn’t selling cigarettes this time. At least, at the moment.
It doesn’t make a big difference, but would make the matter even more outrageous. If possible.
