Pregnancy in the workplace and rights of pregnant workers is being ruled on by the Supreme Court in a case brought against UPS. The case was brought by UPS employee Peggy Young who argued she should not be treated differently from non-pregnant workers who only receive similar exemption from lifting heavy packages if they suffer injuries in the workplace. The case hinges on the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978, which gives a murky outline for how to treat these situations. Should women who are pregnant be given special treatment by their employers? We look at the case, in this Lip News clip with Jackie Koppell and Gabriel Mizrahi.
