“On November 4th Florida voters will decide whether or not to amend the state’s constitution. The Amendment 2 medical marijuana ballot initiative needs 60 percent of the vote in order to pass. If it does garner that support the constitution of the state of Florida would be officially amended but don’t expect things to change overnight.
Beth Leitner says her opinion of Amendment 2 has changed. In April, FCN caught up with Leitner as she worked to drum up support for the Amendment as a volunteer with United for Care. And now seven months later she plans to vote ‘No’ on 2.
“I switched,” said Leitner. “I wanted to help people now. It’s legal let’s do it.”
There’s already provision in Florida law that allows the use of medical marijuana for certain patients. The Florida Doctrine of Medical Necessity is not well known but it is being used by people in state who say medicinal marijuana is their last hope and can prove its medical necessity.”* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.
