GOP Governor Hilariously Battles Satanists

“Gov. Mary Fallin (R-OK) issued a statement Monday ahead of a Satanic “black mass” scheduled to take place at the state Capitol in Oklahoma City in September.

In a statement published at OK.gov, Fallin said, “This ‘Black Mass’ is a disgusting mockery of the Catholic faith, and it should be equally repellent to Catholics and non-Catholics alike.”

“It may be protected by the First Amendment,” she went on, “but that doesn’t mean we can’t condemn it in the strongest terms possible for the moral outrage which it is. It is shocking and disgusting that a group of New York City ‘satanists’ would travel all the way to Oklahoma to peddle their filth here. I pray they realize how hurtful their actions are and cancel this event.””* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

  1. Cenk seems to have the wrong idea of Satanists. Real Satanists, do in fact, believe in Satan. There are many books written by Anton LeVey that can attest to that. LeVey Satanists seem to set the standards for the religion, which is, a religion. Having been an Occultist for the better part of 6 or 7 years, I have encountered more than one Satanist (I’ve studied a wide range of religions and occult systems). The real ones typically hold a high reverence for Anton LeVey, and claim to be practitioners of the Left Hand Path. (The Left Hand Path is to Black Magick as the Right Hand Path is to White Magick, get it?) They do believe in their rituals, just as much as any Christian participating in a church activity (which is also a ritual, let’s face it). Baphomet is a likeness of Satan, of Lucifer. He is commonly used to represent the Adversary.

Satanists, however, should not be confused with Luciferians. Luciferians hold a lot of beliefs that seem to be derived from Satanism, but they believe Satanists to be weak because of the fact that they worship Satan. Luciferians worship no God or deity, they hold themselves to be the Gods of their own worlds. Luciferianism seems to have been started by Michael W. Ford in the 90s, so it’s a fairly new religion (and it’s followers do classify it as a religion). Luciferianism seems to be more of a twisted perversion of the Judeo-Christian bible stories that attempt to put a “dark, alternative spin” to it all. They see Lucifer as a liberator, as someone who attempted to save humanity from a tyrant God, and was cast out for it. It’s seems a bit more in-depth than modern Satanism.

Now, there are literally hundreds of little goth kids who run around hailing Satan, and I’m sure these “Satanic Temples” don’t have any kind of member screening process. I’m sure there are tons of people in their organizations (if you can call them that) who hold no real belief for the things they say and do – but the one’s who started the religions most certainly do – and for every couple hundred that hold no belief in “Satan” as a higher power, there’s a couple hundred that really do. It’s really not just some political stunt or attempt to “piss off” the people who oppose this sort of thing – it’s an actual religion, and an actual movement – attempting to integrate itself into society. (However ridiculous it may be.)

You’d be surprised at how many Occult organizations not only exist, but fully believe in everything that they speak and practice. So believe me, Cenk. When the Satanists say that they’re performing a ritual to bring Baphomet into Oklahoma, ya’ better believe that they believe in it.

(By the way, I’m a huge TYT fan. Not some troll leaving a comment just to disagree or something, it’s just that whenever the whole Satanist issues come up, Cenk seems to be a little confused about it, and I felt that I needed to clarify.)
