Female Anchor Without Headscarf Causes Outrage

In The Young Turks on YouTube by Hlarson2 Comments

“A Saudi Arabian TV channel is fielding complaints from viewers after a female anchor appeared on a news program without covering her head.

The unnamed journalist has previously anchored on the state-run Al Ekhbariya channel while wearing a hijab, but in a recent broadcast, her long black hair hung loosely around her shoulders while she read the day’s news.

The appearance sparked outrage on social networks in the conservative Islamic country, the Independent reports, with some condemning the break from traditions.

Saleh Al Mughailif, a representative for Saudi radio and television, explained that the news anchor was speaking from a studio in London.

“She was not in a studio inside Saudi Arabia and we do not tolerate any transgression of our values and the country’s systems,” he said.” *

  1. The operating word in this whole story is “person” or “human being”.. The Saudis and others see just a sexual object, out there for the taking if her proprietor blinks. Not a human being with every opportunity to be the most she finds how to be, but just property. In fact, these women are pushed into a “sexual object” status more than porn actresses are.

In fact, the typical Islamic woman under a Niqab has surrendered her individuality completely. And the woman with little more than visible eyes, nose and mouth has also surrendered her individuality to the point where it is very difficult to recognize a girl from a grown up. There are traditions and then there are attempts at complete denial of all that makes us human.

Modesty is not modesty when the price is just too damn high.
