To be fair to Jones I think the thought behind his rant is that like Rome before it fell the elites went off the deep end as the bubble they lived in painted an increasingly distorted view of themselves and the world in general. This is a reasonable analogy for todays corporate and political elites who can’t seem to see how much damage they are causing due to the bubble they to are living in. This I think is one of Jones stopped clock moments where he makes a garbled but valid point.
