Australia… Cats have never been domesticated. They come from the middle east and Egypt, where the cats kept the mice at bay protecting the seed in Egypt. We have a sort of partnership between cats and humans in so far a cat will stay on one condition that you treat it well and do not cause any stress in it’s life, otherwise a cat will look for another partner, or home. Thus, to have a cat that acts like a dog firstly you can not have any other animals at home. My cat is Burmese and she follows me, plays games such as fetch. The cat will sleep with me and wake me in the morning by staring at me for so long I can sense his presence. A cat will wake you by patting your eye with his paw, lick your eye to wake you up, lick your nose and if that does not work she will dig one claw softly into your nose. Because my cat lives with me and we are the only two in the house and it is an indoor cat it behaves like a loving dog. She speaks to me and I speak to her. In Australia most like cats and dogs. I had German Shepherds before my cat. Thus, I am a cat lover and have not the time for dogs any longer. However that is my point, I believe that the percentage of information regarding cats and dogs would be the same as the US. The only thing I do not believe there is a stigma of being a cat owner, it is a matter of room and time which one you will have as a pet, dog or cat. Plus, it may come down to what the kids want.
