“The San Antonio Spurs won their fifth NBA title Sunday in a rout of the Miami Heat. The Spurs won the series four games to one and outscored the Heat by 70 points, which marked the biggest point differential in NBA Finals history. The win continued a remarkable run for the club since it drafted Tim Duncan with the number one overall pick out of Wake Forest in 1997. The Spurs have the best record in major pro sports since Duncan joined the team.

The Spurs have been one of the most balanced and unselfish teams during the Gregg Popovich era, which started when Pop took over as coach during the 1996-97 season. This playoff run was emblematic of the Spurs’ way where Tony Parker led the team in scoring with 17.4 points per game. It was the fewest points per game by a title team’s leading scorer in the shot-clock era (since 1954-55), according to Elias. The Heat had the best player in the NBA Finals with LeBron James, but there was no doubt who the better team was.”*

The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur shares some of the hate he received after making a bold and decisive prediction about the NBA Finals.
