Celebrities In The “Glass Closet”

In YouTube Posts by Hlarson1 Comment

The “glass closet” is a term used for a gay person, usually a public figure or celebrity, who has never publicly come out as being gay — yet is out to their friends, family, and widely known to be gay by the gay community.

There are many public figures that are living in the glass closet right now – from news anchors, actors, musicians and more.

Do you think it’s important for these people to come out publicly? Or do they have the right to keep certain things sacred and separate from the public?

  1. Without even watching the video, I need to ask why this question is even being asked? If anyone uses the argument that the LGBT community expects that said celebrities should make a public notation about their sexuality for reinforcement in the community, hold that thought before you spew it all over us! I have heard that plea time and time again, but what I don’t understand is why anyone would argue that such a prominent culture/association would need to make something as trivial as a celebrity’s sexual orientation their plight. How/why would anyone justify that the media should have mutually exclusive rights to a celebrity’s sexual orientation? It just doesn’t make sense!
