The Los Angeles Sparks, one of the first teams in the WNBA and a club that greats like Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie called home, were ready to move cities. That was until Magic Johnson and Mark Walter, CEO of Guggenheim Partners, stepped in and purchased the Sparks, inheriting all of the teams debt. The WNBA is struggling as they have lost Houston and Sacramento in recent years and only 6 of 12 teams turned in a profit. Johnson hopes to turn around the Sparks, firstly by keeping them in Los Angeles.
