Citing strides women have made in fields like medicine and veterinary science, Kentucky senator Rand Paul told NBC’s David Gregory that the War on Women was over and women won. Unmentioned by Paul: the hundreds of bills Republicans have tried to pass since the 2012 election restricting women’s reproductive rights, ongoing questions from Republicans candidates for office about so-called “legitimate” rape and the scurrilous demonization of prominent pro-choice politicians like Texas’ Wendy Davis.

Even so, does the term “War on Women” shed more heat than light on the social, economic and political challenges facing women in modern American society? Our panel discusses this and more during this segment of The Point with Ana Kasparian.
