Undetectable 3D-printed guns may become legal with the expiration of the 1988 Undetectable Firearms Act. These popular 3D printed plastic weapons are not registered as dangerous firearms by common metal detectors even though they have the potential to kill someone. Lissette Padilla and Mark Sovel discuss how regulations are moving much too slow to keep up with these fast-paced technological innovations, in this clip from the Lip News.

  1. As a firearms owner, this is not something I want to see happen. Lawfully owning a firearm means you shouldn’t have to defeat detection with it. I don’t really wish to be able to carry a firearm on an airplane or into a courthouse etc., but no Pro-2A person should be advocating for the expiration of this law; instead they can argue that they can carry their firearm in more places if they wish. It was reauthorized / extended anyway so this entire video is pretty moot.
