American political dysfunction looks pretty bad — but just take a look at what’s going on across the Atlantic. A poisonous wave of right-wing, neo-fascist parties is emerging in response to the continent’s ongoing austerity and hugely ineffectual policy response to the resulting jobs crisis…

  1. Well in most of the European countries the safety net is musch better and the level of welfare that people get is also higher. Neo-Fascism hasn’t risen in US because you have basically got two party system where other parties can’t rise to power as those two possess all the resources. I mean they have so big membership and also they have so many supporters who pay for their campaign. You have to realise that in most of the European countries there are more parties because they use proportional representation system for their elections. You may ask why are those far right parties so popular in Europe? Well because they are so populistic. They blame governments for the economic crisis. They also have quite harsh immigration laws as Europeans are fed up with all the refugees and immigrants their governments have accepted. They are sick of that because those immigrants haven’t integrated into society and they also are responsible for most of the crimes that are commited. And big part of the immigrants are not refugees they just want to live on the welfare that those countries are offering. So big part of them don’t want to work. It means that the tax payers will have lower pensions and worse healthcare as they are government funded..

And that is the reason why far right parties are popular. Because there are just too many immigrants in Europe who are burden to the tax payers…

  2. Now watching “Could Neo-Fascism Come To America?”.

Norway isn’t in the EU. Norway has low unemployment, very good health & social services (5 weeks vacation, a year free for new mothers + some for new fathers, good pensions including for the disabled) and RELATIVELY little economic inequality. So why did Norway get a (far) right government a couple of months ago? The far-far right party (Fremskrittspartiet = The Progressive Party) grew so large that they HAD to be allowed into the government for the first time. (The other parties have managed to keep them out until now.) The new government is a coalition between them and the traditional Right Party (Høgrepartiet).

All your reasons for neo-fascism don’t exist in Norway. So why has the far-far right party gotten so popular?

    1. I find it to be wrong to call Fremskrittspartiet a “far- far right party”. One can argue that Fremskrittspartiet is “far- right”, but that is only when you compare it to the other parties in Norway. How far can a party be, when it in it’s first year in position only changes 2% from the previous government’s budget? So, in Norwegian political measurements, yes, Fremskrittspartiet is “far- right”, but when you compare Fremskrittspartiet’s policies with the Golden Dawn party, Fremskrittspartiet is all of a sudden a “moderate” party.
