Im sorry, I don’t know what clip you watched but Bashir didnt just come out and say “Someone should shit in Sarah Palin’s mouth”. I don’t know why you’re saying that. He’s making a very clear point about how stupid and ignorant what Sarah Palin said was. How? By citing facts about the actual treatment of slaves. He’s explaining why the concept of “slavery” shouldn’t just be thrown around and compared to national debt. He’s exposing how little Palin knows about slavery. Yeah, in the end he takes a jab at her but its within a context. It surprises me that you only focused on the end and you choose to present it as: “Martin Bashir says someone should shit in Sarah Palin’s mouth”. Its dishonest and reads like a tabloid headline. I think you could go two ways here: You can attack her statement by explaining what debt is, or by explaining what slavery is. Bashir went with the latter.
The national debt is literally the non-govt sector’s net savings. For you to earn a dollar, someone else must spend a dollar. When the govt spends money this ends up in the non-govt sector. The non-govt’s deficit is exactly equal (to the penny) to the non-govt’s surplus.
