Some right-wing media outlets have been pushing a conspiracy theory regarding the military training exercise Jade Helm. Many conspiracy theorists believe Jade Helm to be a prelude to Obama’s authoritarian martial law coup. Some particularly fearful South Carolina men were recently arrested for arming up for war against the government. “A tipster first contacted the FBI in June after becoming concerned that Litteral and Campbell were “preparing to use lethal force against United States government forces in order to defend against the imposition of martial law or other infringements on their rights,” according to an affidavit. The affidavit noted that the two men had discussed their belief that “Jade Helm 15” was actually a cover for the implementation of martial law with the tipster.””*
