But if deaths are to be the bar by which we ban drugs, let’s make sure we include the deadliest drugs out there. So I’m a big TYT fan, and I love your commentary john, but this report is a coercive use of data. To accurately judge what drug is the deadliest, at least intuitively which are more dangerous, you have to normalize against the populations use of that drug. What happens if you don’t do that is that it makes drugs that are accessible look worse.
For instance, in the example of painkillers: 16235 deaths is a lot if 20000 people use them, but not necessarily for a bigger enough number of people using it.
What is more useful and less coercive is the proportion of people using it to deaths.
