We got a great treaty today with the Iranians. We’re going to end their nuclear weapons program for ten years, with continual inspections for verification. Right wingers predictably decried the deal as “a historic mistake.” Cenk Uygur host The Young Turks breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
“Republican lawmakers unanimously denounced an historic agreement between Iran, the U.S. and five world powers on Tuesday, promising to fight the accord tooth and nail once a congressional review period ends later this year.
“The deal in my view, from what I know so far, is unacceptable,” House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said in a weekly press conference, noting it would provide “billions in sanction relief while paving the way for a nuclear Iran.””*

I have a sneaking suspicion that what really upsets them and the U.S. petroleum industry that funds their campaigns is the fact that the Iranians will now be able to put about 500,,000 bbls of crude and refined petroleum products onto the market every day. This would be of course beneficial to consumers in this country and help to further drive down prices at the pump, but not so good for the bottom line of the huge oil interests in this country. You see the truth behind the outrage is that the right wingers in congress are trying to protect the US petroleum industry and the obscene profits that they pull down every year.
