Men’s Rights Activists Says Shooter Can’t Be Blamed For Killing

“Several members of the men’s rights movement have offered qualified support for a former Iowa mall security guard who shot and killed a 20-year-old woman Friday night after he was reportedly fired because the woman complained that he was sexually harassing her.

David Futrelle reported that commenters at a “red pillers” forum expressed sympathy for open carry advocate Alex Kozak, who they believe was unfairly treated by a system that takes sexual harassment complaints too seriously.

The so-called “red pillers” believe that society favors women over men, disenfranchising them and leaving them subject to laws and societal rules they feel are unjust to their gender.” *

  1. You will find plenty of crazies in the MRA and Feminist groups. and while TYT highlights the former they pretend the latter doesn’t exist, even though the latter exists in much higher numbers with much more power (manspreading laws?).

But let’s ignore that and look at this story without a slant in any direction. Have you been in this economy? I spend 7 months unemployed last year, with student loan debts up to my eyeballs and medical bills and legal debts for protesting against Koch Industries and being falsely accused of hacking them when I don’t know the first thing about hacking.

If I went into work today and they told me I was fired for something I did, I wouldn’t make it out of that discussion alive. No way. I was inches from homelessness, a burden on my family, I felt useless and ashamed and every day was total hell, being insulted and lambasted by conservatives and constantly put down because I couldn’t find a job despite applying to hundreds a day. And I have a BSME, so I am a highly skilled technical professional, but still the jobs weren’t there. And if they fired me solely based on the false accusations of another, I’d probably murder suicide out immediately, because unemployment in modern America is exactly that bad. The prospect of losing what little I have, when I already live in a slum and can’t afford anything, the idea that I’d have to go back to being a complete burden on others? That I’d have to go through dozens of more shameful, embarassing calls and spend months or years being torn apart by society again? Fuck no. Nothing is worth doing that again. Nothing at all. It is easy to understand the suicides of black tuesday (1929).

Now was it a false accusation? I don’t know. Maybe it isn’t. Maybe this guy is the worst person ever. But we don’t know. I’m just surprised TYT is so distant and surprised by the horrors of unemployment in modern America, especially with all the conservative legislation to cut benefits in recent years. If they wanted to they could spend 2 hours just covering suicides due to economic circumstances every day.

I myself am a gender egalitarian. I want freedom, equality, and empowerment for people of every gender, men, women, trans*, etc. And as a progressive left wing libertarian I certainly believe we need to fix these economic and social problems that we face as a country. I’ve been annoyed by several facets of the MRA movement, but to claim they are worse than a group that actively advocates “standpoint theory” the basis of modern feminism which claims that the anecdotes of women and the less powerful matter more than facts and statistics, and then proceed to make “powerful” so vague it can’t be defined. Modern feminism has been extremely harmful to society, pushing ineffective and dangerous policies that increase social power distance, and cause unanticipated harms because they lack a scientific approach (racist application of manspreading laws that are the criminalization of having testicles in the first place). I feel like TYT needs to get it’s shit together and actually read about these issues in depth before going on rants about them. This is definitely their least researched, most ranted on topic.

  2. Please stop quoting (and thus giving weight) to the opinions of anonymous idiots. I think they do it is because it generates a reaction, either from within the forum, or (even better) in the media. Further, it encourages jerks like these to treat women, minorities, gays, etc. like inferior human beings because they learn to feel like their not alone (they feed off each other’s ignorance).

All media outlets could do the world a service if they not only ignored anonymous comments in forums, but also prevented people from making anonymous comments to their posted material. They’re doing it anonymously for a reason, and I doubt any of the morons who made those comments would be willing to do so if they had to reveal who they really were.
