Cenk Uygur (http://www.twitter.com/cenkuygur) host of The Young Turks discusses an event that we will be more than happy to stop reporting about if it would stop happening all the goddamn time; an unarmed man dies while in police custody, this time after being attacked by a police K-9 unit.
“Vineland, New Jersey played host to a tragic event that has a habit of happening far too often and is yet again a symptom of an Epidemic of Brutality in the U.S. police force. Philip White, resident of Vineland, was in police custody when a K-9 unit attacked him, savagely tearing into his unprotected flesh. A video released by a friend of White shows that he is in police custody on the ground not resisting and unarmed when a K-9 unit is allowed to bite at his unprotected face, head, and neck. He was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital due to hyperventilating and under respiratory arrest. He was unresponsive en route to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
It is unclear if there will be an autopsy to determine what was exactly responsible for White’s death.”
