When Jon Stewart announced in February that he’d be leaving Comedy Central’s satirical news program “The Daily Show” after 16 years, it tipped over one of the biggest falling dominoes in late-night television.

Speculation about who should replace him gave way to Comedy Central’s announcement this week that South African comic Trevor Noah, 31, will take over the role later this year. It’s a gamble because although he is popular in South Africa and Europe, he is largely unknown in the United States.”
