“Cenk Uygur (http://www.twitter.com/cenkuygur) host of The Young Turks discusses a proposed bill that would allow Military Veterans access to marijuana for medical purposes.

A rare joint effort between Republicans and Democrats in the United States Senate started last week when they introduced a bill that would allow for the use of medical marijuana for those who have seen active service in the military. The bill is led by Republican Senator Rand Paul and Democrat Senator Cory Booker.

The bill would protect military vets from state and federal prosecution for possession of pot, provided it was for private use and the person in question did not have an attempt to resell the drug and the drug was legal in that state for medical purposes. There is also a provision that would allow banks to be able to work with dispensaries when dealing with their money. Current banks are not allowed to handle or accept currency from businesses that are in the marijuana trade, even if the dispensary exists for medical reasons.”

Should pot be made legal for military veterans? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
