“Tim Burton’s hopping on the giant ears of an iconic elephant.
Burton, who helmed a successful 2010 version of Alice in Wonderland for Disney, is reteaming with the studio for a remake of the 1941 animated classic Dumbo, according to reports from the Wall Street Journal and Mashable.
The original film followed a gentle cartoon animal ridiculed for the size of his ears, though they gave Dumbo the ability of flight. Details aren’t known about the new version, though it’s expected to feature a mix of live action and computer animation.
Disney has been on a tear of redoing their own memorable films of late. A new take on Cinderella starring Lily James is in theaters Friday, an updated The Jungle Book and the sequel Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass are expected next year, and Beauty and the Beast is currently in pre-production with a cast including Emma Watson, Dan Stevens and Luke Evans.”
