Boston Bombing Jury May Exclude Catholics

The Boston Marathon bombing jury in the trial of alleged bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev may exclude Catholics due to a potential clash between jury selection criteria and Catholic teachings. Specifically, jurors are required to be able to sentence the accused to death, which could go against the Catholic Church’s teachings regarding the death penalty. Judge George O’Toole had planned to hear opening arguments today, but they have been delayed because individual questioning of jurors is taking longer than expected. We take a look at this challenge in the jury selection process and talk about how it could effect the trial, in this Lip News clip with Jackie Koppell.
