  1. This is how I would get around a lifetime ban on lobbying if I were politician. As soon as I got out of office, I’d open a business. The business that I did favors for while I was a politician would invest in my company. The company would never have to make a profit, but somehow I will become a millionaire. I’m against money in politics, but when you have a few that get to make decisions for the rest of us, those few can always be corrupted. Representative government has always produced the same result. The representatives and the few do well at the expense of the many which leads to and instability and ultimately Revolution. I came up with that work around in about 10 seconds. Just imagine people who really want to get around it and took the time to think about it how they would be able to do it. There would be a thousand ways.

  2. Wearing a hijab in the United States is just as ridiculous as flying the confederate flag. I would vote for the second candidate in a heartbeat, but what her attire symbolizes should be very offensive to women everywhere, including herself.

“The stated aim of the Taliban, in respect to their contentious and non-contentious treatment of women, was to create a “secure environment where the chastity and dignity of women may once again be sacrosanct””

“Afghan women were forced to wear the burqa at all times in public, because, according to one Taliban spokesman, “the face of a woman is a source of corruption” for men not related to them.”

“In a systematic segregation sometimes referred to as gender apartheid, women were not allowed to work, they were not allowed to be educated after the age of eight, and until then were permitted only to study the Qur’an.”

  3. Tahirah Amatul- Wadud, Rasheeda Taleeb, Ilhan Omar it’s so great to see muslim women in America getting representation. America was built on the premise of immigration, opportunity, and democracy. If our congress was truly American it wouldn’t be a room of rich white guys but rather should look like the UN floor.

    1. I concur friend. Speaking as a non-Muslim, I find it very encouraging that these Muslim women are running for office and winning. I am happy to see more diversity in our elected officials. I don’t claim to be an expert on the various meanings of head coverings for Muslim women, but the women you mentioned, in my opinion, exemplify female empowerment, particularly empowerment of Muslim women. From my admittedly limited experience, I get the impression that head coverings mean different things to different groups or sects of Muslims. The confederate flag is specifically associated with the south’s separation from the United States because they wanted to keep slavery legal. At its core the confederate flag will always represent the oppression and dehumanization of others. Personally I hope that Tahirah Amatul- Wadud, Rasheeda Taleeb, Ilhan Omar all wear the clothing that identifies their Muslim heritage with pride.

  4. Kyle had it right. Warren is soft on corruption when dems are doing it. Warren will never speak up against other democrats. She also failed to support Bernie in 2016. Further, she came out after the 2016 primaries and admitted they were rigged. Not one day later she took it back She is soft. She is a politician. She’s no Bernie.

    1. ROFL lol lol lol haaa She’s Elizabeth Warren — of course she’s not Bernie. I may not fully trust her, but
she’s proposing great legislation …. and that’s awesome

      1. Exactly right. It amazes me how many people seem to think that if you don’t agree with somebody 100% on every issue you should just reject their good ideas out of hand. (Or worse yet, they have a strange double standard in which we can align with Donald Trump or Rand Paul on single issues but not with Elizabeth Warren or Democrats.) A good idea is a good idea and instead of shitting on it because it won’t get a vote, fight to make sure it does!

  5. Debtee, sounds like you should be on FOX news, I remember her always fighting for what she believes in, she is a good one among many corrupt corp dems. I never heard her say that we should keep this corrupt system. She has always banged her fist against the many wrongs that have done, so I really don’t see your point. I expect comments like that from cultservatives and russian trolls, not a progressive. We stand united here on TYT and we support great policies here, not criticize them, no matter who they come from, so if your troll (as I suspect) then fuck off, if your a tyt progressive, then your just plain wrong for attacking a great step forward for progressives, on personal reasons. You should check your feelings at the door.

  6. I’m glad Elizabeth Warren is bringing the topic of corruption in Washington front and center. While it’s not even likely to get a vote like with Tulsi Gabbard’s bill to stop funding terrorists organizations, with the current state of politics in America even just mentioning corruption is noteworthy and is almost unheard of. Hopefully it helps raises awareness to more Americans and people will start focusing more on not voting for candidates that are corrupt.

While I share and understand skepticism that she is putting this out while there is no chance of it passing, it is still a step in the right direction and I am happy for it. And to play devil’s advocate, there would likely never be a time when this is likely to pass without tremendous public support or a drastic change in congress by voting corrupt politicians out. Even with a democratic majority, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi would never allow this to be put up for a vote without adding loopholes for their donors to exploit. They take way too much legalized bribes and Nancy even brags about it.

Keep it up Senator Warren. Don’t listen to those consultants in Washington. They are out of touch and frankly suck. Keep up the message of fighting for the American people and back it up with action and people will flock to support you.

  7. Where has she been all these years under Obama? Oh, almost nowhere, doing some ‘tough talk’ with no teeth to back it up. Riiiight. Remember that Liz Warren would NOT back Bernie, had LOUSY excuses she told us, and has BACKTRACKED when told by the Dem party. Nope, this is more fake stuff put out by the establishment, using Warren.

    1. She started the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under Obama’s administration. It wasn’t Obama’s idea, it was her’s. She fought for it and got it. Just saying.
