Response to the Trump supporters’ commentary:
It may not be your intention but I think it’s worth noting that even progressives held their noses and voted for Hillary. I would not say that all progressives who voted for her, were doing it because they loved her, or thought she was a perfect human, who epitomized their values. I would say that many did not want Trump, and felt that Hillary, along with democrats, could yield better results for the country, than Trump.

Many general election voters would have preferred other candidates, including Bernie, or even ones more progressive than Bernie, but Bernie wasn’t on the ballot; Hillary was. Though I will grant you that a number of people, like me, will tell you that, when asked, it doesn’t make for good TV; Trump-supporters who look dumb, do, and so do dumb liberals who voted for Hillary, just because their friends told them to vote for her. It doesn’t necessarily represent all liberals to pick out the ones who follow their friends, and family, blindly, and I don’t think it represents enough of the population for me to care about. Numbers say we got fucked in this election because people are oppressed, unrepresented, and tired. There is no get-up-and-go for democrats, OR conservatives, when 30% of the population decides our elections.

I also wonder, if you put Hillary voters “on display” the way this show does, if you would find just as many ignorant arguments. Things like, ‘Because she’s a woman,’ or, ‘I don’t care that she’s pro-war, I think she’s done amazing things for minorities, and she isn’t racist, and never was,’ or, ‘She’s an outsider! (because she’s a woman!’ Your show has done segments showing Hillary’s poor decisions, policies, and behaviors, and yet you’ll see ignorant people spouting garbage, to justify it.

I’m not saying playing Red Team v. Blue Team is appropriate, but I am saying I find it strange to pretend that ignorance, as flagrant as the Trump-Supporters, doesn’t exist on both sides, and they’re somehow uniquely ignorant, and gullible.

I’ve seen, and met, plenty of people, who treat politics just like their religion; they were born into progressive group-think, and they can’t critically evaluate policy ideas, or decisions, for themselves; they need a leader just as much as right-wingers. It leads to the most bizarre justifications for their votes, and policy-support, including policies that purposely oppress people for various demographics, rather than dealing with people based on their behavior.

    1. I wanted to emphasize my point: I do not think “both sides are equal.” I think that focusing on the radical, ignorant, minority that wrested hold of the country, is a waste of time. Again, the popular vote didn’t go to Donny-tiny-hands; it went to Hillary, but even then, the vote was a tiny portion of the population of the united states. If we were talking about another country, and said that 30% of their population decided the election, we would balk at the lack of democracy, yet that’s what we have here.

The segment is interesting, because of the rabid group-think that occurs in people, but I felt like you focused on trying to shame them into knowledge, while screaming inside your echo-chamber. It’s important to look at the psychologically interesting portions of how those supporters, and ex-supporters, are isolated from knowledge, or how important it is to make voting more accessible since group-thinkers are more likely to vote because they have support, and have a narrow vision of success. You could even speculate on why these particular people felt compelled, or even excited, to go on the show, and wonder at what others think who weren’t willing to go on the show.

  2. Hello friends

I was out of town all week, otherwise I would have commented sooner. In addressing the people in the clip who support Trump, including the so called Christians I have three things to write here. First, self-righteousness is the companion of hypocrisy. Wherever you find a self-righteous person you will find a hypocrite, and the more self-righteous the person is, the bigger the hypocrite he or she is. Second, Jesus’s greatest enemies were religious phonies, and his most frequent insult for them was calling them hypocrites. Third, speaking as an African American myself, and speaking of the African American man on the CNN panel who supported Trump, there are some African Americans who are in denial about the racism in this country, and they are even in denial about the racism they deal with in their relationships with white conservatives. These African Americans are under such delusions that they rationalize and dismiss the covert and overt racism that is even directed towards them. The white conservative friends and associates of these people are often condescending and patronizing to them, and white conservatives treat them like second class citizens, but those African Americans can never see it.

  3. They found the “malfunctioning Wells Fargo tool,” it was their CEO.

  4. The problem with housing, Anna, is that land barons constantly seek to maximize profit and raise prices as much as possible. This means housing prices will be set close to the amount that a worker in the area could barely afford given a long mortgage. Without making this practice illegal and setting actual fair prices for houses (the cost of the actual work put into it, not wild inflated speculation), this behavior will continue. Some other countries have addressed this issue in various ways and we should investigate these methods and implement them here in the U.S..

  5. So Cenk and Ana…you haven’t listened to Pod Save America enough to realize what their message actually is then. Sure, they are Obama loyalists but they don’t gloss over the mistakes that were made during the administration either. The guys have a very valuable perspective that between the pod and TYT keeps me sane.

Also, I thought you guys give credit to people (even Trump) when they come around to see things as you do, but apparently it is easier to villify the PSA guys? What gives? They didn’t pay the same amount of attention yo Alexandria so they’re suddenly the worst? Ugh. IDGI.

  6. fyi: My mom turns 80 in 2 months. She’s still working to supplement her social security. She works with cognitively disabled teens and adults as a contractor with “clients.” She mostly works on social skills and does job shadowing. It wears her out. I’ve tried to convince her to move in with me for a decade now; she’s so worn out and worn down she’s finally considering it.

She would have moved in with me at some point anyway; I’m not letting my mom go to a nursing home. She shouldn’t, though, have had to work until age 80 to provide basic necessities.

  7. Anna, to answer your question if Latinos care about families separated at the border, the answer is yes. I am CHRISTIAN, and I didn’t vote for Trump. I am against abortion, but that should not be the only reason to vote for or against someone. I am an immigrant born in Mexico and went to school here i was Blessed enough to become a US citizen in 2000, I was on a waiting list to become a naturalized citizen for about 3 years. Trump does not represent the Christian vote he represents the Whites/Corporation/dumb and ignorant vote. I am infuriated by the separation of families but also infuriated by the embellishment of news coverage by the mainstream media both on right and left. I watch this show because it is, for the most part, objective. All we get on fox news is Trump is perfect and can do no wrong. thank you

    1. Trump would not be president if it wasn’t for the Christian Evangelicals, 80+% of whom showed up to vote for him. He may not represent the more rational devotees of Christian Mythology, but it’s a fact, not an embellishment, Christians made him fearless leader.

  8. Wells Fargo “glitch?”

This absolutely was intentional. Just like it was intentional when they fraudulently opened accounts in the name of 1.5 million of their customers without their knowledge and consent.

And just like it was intentional when they took out car insurance on 570,000 more of their customers without their knowledge; leading some of them to have their cars repossessed.

Wells Fargo is a criminal organization but unlike the other banks it doesn’t just steal from society at large, it has the audacity to openly steal from its own customers.

  9. I think one of the most harmful Trump effects is the indoctrination which keeps people low info and ignorant. It’s the only way he can keep people voting for him.

  10. You cut the end of this video short. Not the first time this has happened. Please be more careful with your editing.

  11. All I can say about the election results right now is…

May Common Cause & their fucking piece of shit Corporate-whore commode-lickers all die a slow agonizing death from a untreatable, non-negotiable Cancer.
Because of them fighting against an amendment to get money out of politics, that is what they are essentially sentencing the rest of us to.

The Michigan JD, Abdul El-Sayed, lost to Gretchen “Number One BCBS Blow-job Giver” Whitmer because of money in politics. Oh, and part of that money came from Shri Thanedar, Conman Millionaire who bought $11 million worth of TV ads w/his own money.

All the Michigan JDs were great candidates, Abdul a rising star, and they got killed.
Now the Line 5 pipeline (that is 15yrs past retirement date) will STILL threaten OUR Great Lakes freshwater. Nestle will STILL be able to drain OUR freshwater to sell to Michigan residents (like people in Flint) for a $400 a year permit. Michigan is a giant resource for freshwater, folks, and if the inland water is corporately owned and the Great lakes are shredded with oil slicks… Northern Michigan’s economy is tied almost exclusively to tourism, fishing, etc. Much like Louisiana’s coast in that way.
    It also means:
    No Medicare 4All.
No Pure Michigan Bank for infrastructure projects (such as repairing waterlines, schools, etc).
No restructuring of college loans, and free community college.
No demanding corporations pay their fair share.

I now look forward to the DNC stringing Bernie along till 2020, then fucking STEALING CHEATING COLLUDING AND LYING to deny him a primary win. They will then DEMAND that he stump for Kamala “We can’t release prisoners, we’ll lose our labor force” Harris or Cory “where’s the camera?” Booker. Or even worse, the wolf in sheep’s clothing, Kirsten “Look! I’m pretending to be Progressive,!Like Obama!” Gillibrand.

I am so depressed right now. I thought writing this would be cathartic, but now I’m just crying.
    Did JDs win ANYWHERE yday?

    What’s the positive spin

    1. I’m not going to sugar coat this. The whole situation sucks balls, as someone once said. There is no positive spin for these results. But I’ll do my best.

I’ve mentioned before how it’s a tough situation for progressives, because it’s hard to know if the best strategy is insurrection within the Democratic party or to break away and form a new party. I have grudgingly accepted that trying to make a go as Democrats is the better of two bad options for many reasons. As much as a new party seems appealing, there are so many problems associated with it. Until you get money out of politics, the system is so rigged in favor of the two-party duopoly that breaking through is nigh impossible. (And it doesn’t matter if the Dems lose every election, they still enjoy the benefits of the duopoly just like the Washington Generals enjoyed the benefits of touring with the Harlem Globetrotters.) As much as we want to put the Democrats in the wilderness until they come around to their progressive base, that would mean Republicans win every election, and we would have to suffer through some awful things that are uniquely Republican, and which take decades to undo. And most importantly, this would only work if progressives had a united front, but for the moment many of the leading progressive voices (including AOC) are still Democrats. In hindsight, it probably would have been better for Bernie to become a Democrat if for no other reason than to eliminate the establishment excuse that he’s not from the party and their reason to ignore his “bros”. And also to establish Democratic Socialism as a legitimate wing of the party.

The real poison in the Democratic Party is still the consultant class and how much power they wield. Are they also in bed with Common Cause and Emily’s List and other faux progressive organizations that pimp the status quo? I’d love for that gravy train to be exposed. Is it possible that progressives can ally with moderates (the ones who actually care about winning) to boot the consultants out of party influence? If this happened, the party could take AOC’s lead and learn how to run grassroots campaigns again and maybe win an election once in a while.

The fact that some of the top Democratic contenders even have to pretend to be progressive shows that the needle is moving. While they will ultimately fall in line with their donors, they are at least recognizing the growing frustration from their base. And if they give an inch on that, then the language changes and the Overton Window expands. (Incrementalism, I know, but I’m trying to grasp at a silver lining.) Most importantly, if you end up with a President Gillibrand, this time the progressive left will not be asleep and will hold her feet to the fire much more vocally. People like Jimmy Dore, who honestly did not become aggressive and hold Obama accountable until after the fact, will now be able to speak out in real time because they will have a more influential voice.

So everything is fucked up right now, but this is not the time to stop fighting. I think a tipping point is coming as long as we don’t give up.

      1. Jaymeister~Thank you. I invested a lot of time, emotion & resources in helping Abdul. The closer we got to election day, the more it felt like we would pull it out.

This too shall pass and hindsight is 2020, as they say. Too be sure, this black cloud will thin, and I’ll be back to my cantankerous terrier-self in no time.

      2. Thank you. This was a very cogent analysis. Keep fighting the kids are coming, they just don’t know about primaries yet.

        1. I wanted to clarify something. I work at a university and teach young people. They are angry, they are activated, and they’re going to vote. Don’t worry they’ll change things. Justice Democrats and just started this election cycle. if we get any wins we’re doing great. We already have people that are guaranteed to be in Congress and then things will start to change.

  12. Wells Fargo: A computer glitch to me implies that no HUMAN BEING ever set eyes on that account, because if they had when a customer called in or an account was reviewed they’d notice the huge home-foreclosing error, so I just don’t buy it. Sorry Wells Fargo, but you people are pieces of sh*t! And how about you save the million dollars from the prime-time TV PR campaign to give to some more of the people you screwed!

Social Security: Translation- ” ‘Verk! ‘Verk! Schnell schnell schnell! Why do you ‘verk so slow?! ”

Also guys check out ThinkProgress they have a great story on Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and all the money he’s stolen from us (and how much of a cheapskate the guy is). As to Betsy DeVos, $10,000 is a kleenex to her! F*ck her yacht (or yacht within yacht)!

  13. If you taking the position that this capitalist system is okay, then you can’t criticize that guy for not wanting illegal immigration that put downward pressure on wages and displaced American workers, and shipping jobs overseas. You do then go to criticize the system and say that the man should be focused on the system itself. Here’s the problem, that’s what this system produces consistently. Exploitation of the American worker and the illegal immigrants. That’s not an anomaly, that’s how the system works. If you want change, you have to change system. What I mean by the system is an economy that produces for exchange not for use. And also where people do not go govern themselves in their personal and work lives. Representative systems throughout all of history always benefit the representatives at the expense of the many. That’s system we’ll always have that result.

  14. Cenk I don’t get it. You’re criticizing that guy for stating that illegal immigration has taken our jobs and that the jobs have been shipped overseas as if he somehow he’s stupid. He’s right. This has happened. This is a fact. And Trump is putting window dressing all those two issues that affect the working class. Substantively, he’s governing like bush. You better refine your message, or you going to be losing at least half the country. Stop calling people stupid or racist because they have a different point of view. A view that happens to be correct.

  15. Guys, say it with me: AJAX post back for comments. It should not require a pull page post back (and then reload).

  16. Please assign one of the TYT investigative reporters to interview people like the man who lost his medicare and people all over the country who are being crushed by medical expenses. Find people losing her homes to pay for medication and make a comparison to other countries.

        1. If y’all could actually figure that out it would be fantastic. It actually is very annoying to have the entire video reset if one would like to comment while watching.
          ~ Danke ~

    1. She may look like a fairy but I don’t want Tinkerbell reporting the news. I like to hear from real people, who have a grip on reality not ditzy blondes who only know one subject they have studied for a particular broadcast. When ever a comment is made off subject her reply is “I never heard of that”

  17. Ffs TYT. Fire everyone who works on this website and hire some people who know what they are doing. Alex Jones has more reliable content uploads than TYT, it’s such a disgrace

  18. Medicare for all isn’t the solution. As your story said, those ppl are still going bankrupt. Medicare doesn’t pay for prescriptions. I am disabled. I am on Medicare. It costs 250.00 per month for the Medicare insurance. Then I need extra to pay for meds. That costs 150.00. I get 1,000.00 per month for disability. After paying for insurance (government insurance) I have 600.00 left to live on. I work part time. Can’t work full time. I made more than 1,180.00 per month for 5 months so SSI said I am too rich and they took everything. Now I have negative money. If this can’t get straightened out I will die. Not kidding, not being over dramatic.
I might be saying Bye TYT Tweeters for good

      1. Well now look at that, you pie-in-the-sky democratic socialist countries with your “taking care of our citizens to make sure they have affordable and accessible healthcare” fantasy land silliness, you end up with way too much candy. No, here in ‘Merica we are better off the way we are, miserable, sick, dying, and with just enough candy.

  19. Cenk, I don’t think there is an element in conspiracy requiring it be hidden to be conspiracy.

A conspiracy that is out in the open is still a conspiracy.

    1. I love what Cenk’s doing in general, but abstract thought isn’t something he possesses to much degree.
He believes in very few “conspiracy theories” and even thinks the miles of bullshit we were fed after 9/11 is legit, sooo.

  20. “That isn’t where the story ends.”

YES, IT IS. FUCK YOU, WELLS FARGO! EAT SHIT AND FUCKING DIE!

If Wells Fargo really wanted to earn my trust back, they would actually apologize, not fake apologize.

What would a REAL apology be? Oh, let’s see. How about ALL of the following:

    1. GIVE to EACH and EVERY person whose home was taken away, a home of equal or GREATER value, of the PEOPLE’S CHOICE, (wherever they want,) AND AT WELLS FARGO’S expense. Free and clear, and throw in 30 years of utilities and taxes, PAID, and then add on top of that additional money to pay ANY taxes they have to pay for the cash that is to cover the property taxes they’ll be paying, PLUS costs to have the house inspected, surveyed, etc., including brokerage fees, attorney’s fees, escrow, insurance, etc.

    2. To each person whose account was misused in any way, including any fake accounts created, or people who were charged extra fees due to the stacking of debits so as to maximize overdrafts and negative balance fees, if any were charged to the account, give TEN TIMES the money made off that action, or $10,000, whichever is GREATER, PER ACCOUNT AND PER EACH ILLICIT FEE OR CHARGE.

    3. Recover any costs possible associated with the above, from the pay and/or bonuses of executives in charge of Wells Fargo at the time of the malfeasance, and the rest comes out of their corporate funds.

    4. CRUCIFY (literally, nail to a motherfucking TREE, so they can die slowly, in agony,) all the executives responsible for the stealing of people’s homes in 1 above. WHIP with a cat o’ nine tails, anyone who was responsible for the actions in 2 above, until their backs are laid completely bare of skin, and all the underlying muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc. are exposed, and they scream themselves hoarse and lose consciousness. Don’t kill them… (am I not merciful?)

TO BE CLEAR: I am not advocating for violence. I am just stating what I would consider an adequate apology that could induce me even to CONSIDER giving Wells Fargo my business. Anything less would be, I feel, condoning their conduct, and encouraging others to do the same, and THIS I will not do.

Until this is done, Wells Fargo can go fuck itself off a cliff.

  21. The TrumpKKKins who talk about not judging TraitorTrump for his serial adultery because “as Christians we believe in forgiveness” are fake Christian bags of crap. As any real Christian can tell you, forgiveness comes for those who CONFESS their sins before God and man, and then commit to change their ways and not commit those sins again. TraitorTrump has NEVER admitted to his adulterous affairs, never confessed these sins. He STILL denies it all. He hasn’t met the threshold for Christian forgiveness and hasn’t even tried to. During the campaign TraitorTrump was asked if he repented or prayed for forgiveness. His response: “Why Do I Have to Repent or Ask for Forgiveness If I Am Not Making Mistakes?'”. It’s on video for those who deny he ever said this: https://www.christianpost.com/news/trump-why-do-i-have-to-repent-or-ask-for-forgiveness-if-i-am-not-making-mistakes-video-141856/

The man is a malignant narcissist, incapable of admitting he has ever sinned, so how can he have sought or received Christian Forgiveness? The next time one of these moronic fake Christians tries to sell this crap, call them out for the lying fake Christians they are.

  22. oooooh cenk being bitterman makes me laugh. at least podsave is getting people into politics who otherwise may not have been engaged before or who may never have found a way in without their ‘easy access/easy entry’ style – if a progressively minded person starts with podsave, you gotta know they will make their way to TYT. Trust in the message!

  23. Hello everyone!

    Friendly neighborhood TYT Engineer here!

If you’ve had issues with this here video, give it another go, and make sure to try a Hard Reload (the Ctrl+shift+R or cmd+Shift+R mentioned in previous comments). If it still happens, please respond to my comment to let us know if it’s still an issue. This issue has cropped up in the past but we’ve never been able to reproduce it until now. It looks like this is an issue with our video host that resolves itself over time, and we’ve opened a ticket with them to get it resolved permanently in the future, but the good news is this does not affect our newer infrastructure, which means the apps should not have the problem, and when our new site launches (soon!) this issue will be a thing of the past.

Thanks for your patience and know that getting these videos to you is a high priority for us! Thanks to our awesome publishing/member services folks getting this issue in front of us while it was actually happening so we could finally make some progress on understanding these hard to trace issues!!

    1. An approximate date for the new site please? Also, please integrate auto-play everywhere on the site. Thank you!

P.S. Auto-play as in, if I’m watching Old School just keep playing all the episodes one after the other unless I terminate the auto-play or change the web page. Let’s have unending TYT please. Thanks! Sending love from India! :)

  24. Still black. Seems like tyt is so hard to watch. I can’t watch it when I get home from work because it hasn’t been loaded up yet. The timing is set for East Coast viewers and not West Coast viewers which would be fine but it takes so long to upload the daily show that I have to wait hours after I get home to watch it. Then this sort of thing or something like it happens quite often. Years ago I was a member and cancelled my membership because the podcast version wouldn’t work, I may have to quit again.

  25. If you’re having trouble seeing the Hour 1 video, please hit command+shift+R on a Mac and ctrl+shift+R on a PC. Happy watching!
