  1. A majority of Americans believe Trump is smart? There’s only one explanation. George Carlin once said ( and I paraphrase loosely) to check out the median level of American intelligence and realize that half of them are less smart.

  2. Quick question you guys do realize that TYT is not in charge of Youtube TV right? Because reading some of the comments it doesn’t seem like you do…

  3. Is there a poll that shows the percentage of people that identify as Republicans in 2016 compared to 2018?

    1. I don’t know if there is anything more recent, but Gallup has a summary of party affiliation (their most recent poll is from early June):

      https://news.gallup.com/poll/15370/party-affiliation.aspx?g_source=mn2-us

If you scroll down, you can get Independents wrapped into Republican and Democrats based on how they lean (if at all), too.

For Rep-Ind-Dem, if you take a simple, arithmetic average for 2016 you get:

      2016: 27.6 39.6 30.3 (+/- 0.3 0.7 0.3)
      2018: 26.7 43.7 29.2 (+/- 2.6 0.5 0.7)

That’s the standard error on the mean, which is purely statistical as I don’t know each survey’s error bars. That +/- 2.6 on the 2018 Republicans was a bit of a shock, but it’s due to the polls showing a wide variance in Republican support — ranging from 22% to 28%, whereas the mean is only 26.7%; the smaller sample size doesn’t help, either, but that didn’t blow the errors up on the Independent or Democratic affiliations.

By eye, it looks like the Dems may be losing support, slightly, while the Reps are as well but with more fraught allegiances. Despite the averages and errors providing some credence for that conclusion, we need some more 2018 data to really be comfortable making that claim.

  4. Tactical pants don’t cost $1,500. Even really good ones. Soundproofing a small room doesn’t cost $43,000 either. Scott Pruitt is absolutely embezzling

  5. Was it actually rape and not enjoyed, or is this more demonizing sex and reporting it as if it was awful when it wasn’t?

          1. I clearly implied that there must have been some part of it proving it was rape that I missed, and not just some prudish students complaining about sex at school.

          1. Nope, nothing wrong with having sex at school, I didn’t miss that part. Apparently I missed the part where it was confirmed that there was actual rape going on, though. Feel free to enlighten me where that info was!

  6. SAY NO TO EVIL GOOGLE!

Google is the new establishment player and are EVIL! Host your new shows on your own website like these! Give your members a non-evil option! No one should support Google ever!

  7. And again the same people complaining about Tyt. I have seen it constantly no matter what Tyt covers the complain. I honestly think they are trying to stop Tyt from helping progressives. Go back through the videos and see they complain on every one of them.

  8. Why Cenk thinks this poll is a positive thing?

Half the country lost its marbles based on the poll and in the critical questions that matter to voters when they cast ballots, strength of character/intelligence/ Racism Trump is winning.

  9. Why isn’t TYT talking about how Putin hacked the World Cup? Has TYT been compromised? Kompromat?

    1. First it’s “TYT talks too much about Russia!” Now it’s “TYT needs to talk about Russia!”

    2. Either this is a joke, in which no one who knows soccer is laughing at, or you are part of the segment of the population who have become obsessed with Russia.

In any case massaging the host country in the world cup in not new. The 2002 world cup was much much worse in terms of going pro-host country when South Korea, a country that hitherto never won a game in 4 prior appearances, reached the semi-final defeating Portugal and Italy on the way in the latter case ignoring 3 goals for Italy.

Don’t mix real news, massaging elections that matter, with entertainment, massaging a sporting even where no one dies in or loses their rights.

  10. 2 million dollars in donations for journalists and now they are gone? Like i have said here before. My wallet is getting tighter and tighter and is at the moment closed tight except for the 10$ a month because i still believe in the message. You just have to hire new journalist or risk loosing your members trust.

Show after show filled with: “Give us money for this”, “Give us money for that”. Now it’s our turn. Give us content for our earlier donations. Give us the journalists you promised us.

    1. I agree, actually.
Laying off Hannah Cranston is one thing (I didn’t donate to hire her), but Nomiki Konst, Michael Tracey and all the other new hires whose reporting we were supposed to benefit from, are non-existent with little to no explanation..

I’ve been a member for several years now, but this really pisses me off. My money doesn’t grow on trees. I want reporters in the field. This is WHY I donated my hard-earned dollars.

      Where are my reporters, TYT?

      1. They were pushed off to the TYT Politics channel. However, they rarely use these segments on the main show, and you can’t even find the TYT Politics clips on this site! You have to go back to youtube on the Rebel HQ channel (TYT Politics rebrand) to find them! The Rebel HQ on this site is mostly Cenk talking with primary candidates.

TYT definitely has some organization issues. I really wish they’d redo the website.

  11. On the molestor doctor.

When I was an army medic, everyone in my unit knew that the doc was messed up. No matter what you went in for, you got a prostate exam. Hurt shoulder, flu symptoms, broken toe… didn’t matter. It all resulted in a prostate exam.

  12. So…TYT has money to start a “Centrist” style show for Michael Shure.

But now Michael Tracey is fired?
So Nomiki, Jordan, and now Michael are gone.
More skeptical Progressives gone (Nomiki’s not as progressive, but much more than some on TYT), and instead we get Michael Shure with his own show? WTF?

Will Michael Shure have hard-hitters like Carol Costello on? Or will she be a co-host?
Where are the new PROGRESSIVE shows?
Having Aggressive Progressive as the only one is a bit thin.

    1. So much for asking us suckers to give money to hire journalists!

We gave 2 million in small dollar donations so TYT could hire excellent investigative reporters like Nomiki, Jordan and Michael Tracey.

Is jealousy is a factor here? On a recent show, Cenk and Ana congratulated themselves for being more than just on-air hosts, “we’re real journalists.” No, with all due respect, you are not journalists. You are news hosts.

Having actual journalists doing actual journalism may have just been too embarrassing, showing the contrast between Cenk, Ana and their favored gang, as opposed to what journalists like Nomiki and Michael do.

      1. Deb ~ it is becoming glaringly obvious (although both Cenk & Jimmy will deny it) that TYT is going for their own online version of establishment. Michael Shure having his own show is just the beginning.

Michael Shure was also the one who kept saying that Pres.Clinton & Loretta Lynch’s tarmac rendezvous was just a “miscalculation.” That there was nothing nefarious about it.

So we are to believe, according to Michael Shure, that Bill Clinton, one of the Kings of Optics, a master hardball cut-throat politician was not aware that the meeting would “look bad?”
That alone should be a reason to NOT believe anything Michael Shure says!

      2. in my 6 years as a member, I’ve never seen them respond to these comments. All the ideas that have been said here for years are ignored. If people started dropping memberships in large chunks, they might pay attention. Have you considered trying that?

        1. First, I have on occasion received response or seen evidence that someone is reading the comments, and passing the message on.

Second, the comments are shared with each other. I’ve meet some nice folks here. And, I’ve learned things I would not have known otherwise. There is an amazingly eclectic diverse and well educated range of people who comment here. Trolls too, of course. But the trolls are outweighed by the insightful comments from people who have opened my eyes to new ways to view the world.

Speaking of which… I haven’t seen a post from Euro Yankee recently. Hope all is well.

      3. I just heard Nomiki on the Majority Report. She’s fantastic. She really knows her stuff. Why would TYT fire her?

        1. I just now got around to watching an interview she did for TYT on June 8, and I am very afraid that interview may provide a clue.

She interviewed Afaz Mohammed, a US Marine with PTSD, who was extensively persecuted by the government and the military which tried to frame him and violated his constitutional rights in too many ways to list here.

As i listened to his story unfold, I was shocked at how far the govt would go to persecute him, but also felt a sense of “Nomi may have crossed the line here” — not by our standards of course, because we value the truth, but by the US government’s standards, because this interview revealed too many deeply wrong and embarrassing things done by our government to a marine.

Did someone high up contact TYT and give them an ultimatum? “You guys have crossed the line, and there will be consequences (unless you fire that reporter)” — ?

            1. and also, it may not have been an ultimatum, but perhaps a hit job, attacking her credibility in a manner threatening to TYT… In the absence of TYT issuing any explanation, we can only speculate.

    2. and btw — there is nothing reasonable or sure about Michael Shure.

He was DEAD WRONG during the 6/26 election coverage when he assured Cenk that Joe Crowley had endorsed Ro Khanna during Ro’s first early primary challenges against David Honda.

Michael said it over and over again: “Joe Crowley did Ro Khanna a solid when he endorsed him against Honda…”

No, No, No. No such endorsement happened. Not only did it not happen, but it is ABSURD to suggest that Joe Crowley, of ALL congressmen in Washington, would be the one to break with tradition and endorse a challenger to an incumbent.

Michael Shure is the King of Wrong Mountain. Wrong on his facts, wrong in his perspective.

      1. Yates ~ I, for one, won’t be watching.
Michael Shure is behind the $40@month paywall.

I’m freaking out more that The Jimmy Dore Show is going to also be behind that paywall.
I’m trying to find out if Jimmy will still have clips available on regular YouTube.

It would be nice if they added more shows like AP.
ALL of the other shows, old & new, lean centrist.
Been a member 10 yrs, and have donated many times for reporters, the new studio, etc.
Guess they’ve abandoned the idea of having their own journalists.

    3. I dunno, I gotta say, I don’t really think of TYT as “journalism” as much as “new hosts who read reports and give their opinions on them”, which I don’t mean as an insult, I just see it as more of like a podcast-type discussion for the most part. I don’t think that would be enough to hook me on its own, but Cenks ability to decode political machinations and read between the lines for some of the more subtle signals is generally pretty good, and context you don’t see a lot of places.

That said, not having any of those Journalists around anymore after what… a year? After such a huge fanfare about raising the 2 mil for them? Is pretty wild IMO. I know that funding was supposedly meant to cover entire teams (including legal) so I never imagined it’d be an endless well, but no matter how you interpret that one, the optics are real bad

    4. Michael Shure made his bones in politics since canvassing for Dukakis in the 80s and he has been a member of TYT since the apartment days.

He brings a different perspective that you may not like but 56% of all Dem party voters in primaries do.

      1. Sec ~
He’s also generally wrong, siding with the Establishment more often than not.

But I don’t believe he is as much of a Warmonger (with possible Defense Contractor ties) like You. So, I guess that’s a positive. Shouldn’t be looking for your morning cup of baby’s blood right now?

        1. Nope, he sees things strategically, in 2-5 election cycles not 1 cycle at a time like the progressives do and focuses on local races as much as national ones. I suggest you revisit his old show, 2012, covering the 2012 elections to know who Shure is. His support of the Establishment is because sometimes the Establishment is the only choice.

This is how republicans won in 2010. The teabaggers officially began in 2002 but have roots in the Deal With America movement which failed to deliver back in the 90s.

As for my cupt of baby blood, it was nice, warm and soothing. Thanks for asking ? .

          1. by “strategically” you mean he gets his talking points from Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. No wonder he is wrong so often.

And by wrong, I don’t mean subjectively based on his establishment bias. I mean wrong literally, factually. Like when he said that Joe Crowley had previously endorsed Ro Khanna when Khanna was running against incumbent David Honda. That is 100% factually untrue.

In other words… typical of Michael Shure. Just because someone says something in a deadly boring monotone does not mean they are correct.

            1. No. He chooses which battles to fight, which battles to abandon and which to delay for another day.

That is called strategy, something you are not familiar with.

              1. Hmmm… the candidate whose campaign I worked on (as a key strategist) crushed her opposition.

          1. Yes, I knew that, hence my point. That stat is one thing. Your “conclusion” based upon it is pure ass-fodder.
You stated that 56% of all Dem voters in primaries like Michael Shure’s perspective. A conclusion too silly, on too many levels, for words.

  13. What Cenk is not counting on in Hawaii is the amount of shenanigans that the DNC-Clintoncrats will do to crush Progressive candidates. They are already gearing up to deny Bernie AGAIN, and they WILL stop him from running as 2020 Dem candidate. I don’t believe they give a shit whether Trump or Pence is elected.
It is MORE important for them to stop Progressives.

I don’t believe Kaniela Ing’s situation is the same as Ocasio-Cortez’s election.
DNC will cheat, lie, do whatever it takes to stop Progressives.
Let’s hope they are not paying attention in Hawaii.

  14. Damn Cenk, Trump’s racism is a feature not a bug to MILLIONS of our fellow citizens. America is a deeply divided country, but racism is rampant among all of us, as story after story on TYT clearly demonstrates every day. Those of us who are consciously trying to free ourselves of all that are by no means a majority here. We need to call this hateful BS out loud and relentlessly all the time, in politics and throughout the culture, but in terms of throwing Trump the hell out of the WHITE House, Dems need to do a hell of a lot more than light him up on his racism. That’s not going to move the needle for a lot of our neighbors.

  15. So my community in Montgomery County Pa had a military airbase and PFOS and PFOA chemicals have leaked into our water supply since the early 90s and no one was informed about it until 2001 when a study was done because for such a small community we have a high rate or certain cancers. This is still a issue and no one has done anything about, the base has been closed for a few years now and someone did try and sue the government for medical costs and they basically said sad day for you. http://www.theintell.com/news/20170715/records-military-knew-of-foam-dangers-in-2001

  16. Ok, so half the country thinks Chump is racist. But among that half I wonder who among them is ok with his racism.

  17. I’m slightly disappointed. Democracy Now! covered the story about the PFAS/Teflon chemicals weeks ago. It was/is a huge deal.

  18. My dad told me about when he was, I believe the seminary, when he was a teenager. That on of the priests/fathers/clergy would come around at night and do things with the boy’s. I can’t remember if they molested them where they were or if they “pick” a boy and took them off to another place. He said that even knowing what they priests were doing and that he knew he didnt want to he molested. But he felt genuinely jealous of the boys that had gotten “pick”. Thinking like what’s wrong with me. Fucked up, right! But people and kids do/say crazy stuff when in those types of situations.
