Splitting the vote is what doomed moderate secular politics in Egypt. Either we progressive unite behind one candidate or we get rank choice/runoff voting or we will continue to lose when we should be winning by all other metrics.
We definitely need reforms to the election process like the methods you mentioned. Very hard to unite behind one candidate when each of them have supporters who poured their heart and soul into each campaign. I agree that we need to try to find a way to unite and not split the vote, but it’s very hard to convince one candidate to drop out.
Ben, Yes, first election of billionaires battling it out for Governor in Illinois.
The early lead for Pritzker is disappointing for many reasons, but here are two: 1.) Pritzker was a billionaire Hillary supporter, so how progressive can he really be? and 2.) he has spent millions of dollars of his own money on his campaign, which begs the question, what does he expect for his return on his investment?
