Amy won. Amy is the Democratic candidate!!!
very surprised that people r basing the two on personal belief. but not only that but it is part of it….very sad we have such ideas floating like this?…
As a delegate-member of the CA Dem Party, I received an email encouraging me to make a contribution to the AZ Dem Party so they could flip that senate seat blue… with a goddamn Corporate Establishment Dem, of course (by the way, the ONLY Democratic candidate mentioned by Michael Shure last week when he discussed the AZ race… would someone please inform Michael of the existence of progressive Democrats?)
I hit REPLY on that email and said I was happy to inform the CDP that there was no need to fear, a real progressive was running for the AZ seat. I included link to Deedra’s website.
Ughhh, Michael Shure mentioned Sinema??!! Yuck.
Sinema is the epitome of a “blue dog democrat”. She votes with the Republicans half the time, no exaggeration. And she takes money from, and votes in support of, the PAY DAY LOAN INDUSTRY!!
But Sinema has the name recognition, and I fear too many Democratic voters here do not pay enough attention to her voting record in the House.
She is a do-nothing centrist corporate Democrat, but I fear she will win the primary anyway. Then, since she is so uninspiring, Sinema will lose handily to some crazy Republican in the general election.
I’ve been following Deedra on Facebook, and I think she really needs to start talking about the corruption that is so rampant in this state. And contrast it (loudly) with the fact that she is not taking any corporate or PAC donations. Take a page from Bernie’s playbook and talk more about “kitchen table” economic issues. This state is poor! Make some headlines and attack Sinema’s voting record. The vast majority of her posts are not bold enough — everyone here is already talking about education, everyone supports net neutrality, and separation of church and state is just not an exciting issue for left-wing voters in this state. The economy and corporate welfare should be at the top of the list of issues, not near the bottom. Deedra has to really differentiate herself from Sinema, in order to win the primary.
And at the very least, actually answer the questions that people ask in the comments of her Facebook page.
Sinema is worse than just a fiscal bluedog, she was one off the 55 Dem deplorables to tank the Amash amendment to FISA reauthorization for another 6 years some days ago. She has bad votes on almost everything by now, and getting worse over time.
Deedra Abboud should actually have been asked to explain something by Cenk – she was supporting Sinema and made donations to her as late as April 2017:

Sinema’s identity a bluedog was well known by then, with votes such as ones on CFPB and FCC regulatory powers. Doesn’t mean she won’t be a good politician or walk back on her promises now, but pressure on your record and political positions is critically important. Don’t forget Sinema emerged out of Ralph Nader’s campaign and was once a Green Party affiliated independent. Political pressure is what makes you shed the trappings you view as somewhat dispensable and end up where you actually meant to be.
*Doesn’t mean she won’t be a good politician or walk back* – by she I mean Deedra.
both good candidates but I prefer Amy as religion seemed to be out of the picture with her.
