First off, I live in KS03 and support Justice Democrats and Brent Welder more specifically. In an effort to be fair, please accurately mention that there are other Democratic candidates in the primary for KS03. There are three.
One is what I would consider a political chameleon who was in the race last year and has said he is for progressive ideas this year (he also showed a little angst that others are now involved in taking on Yoder for the seat).
The next also has a very progressive policy list. Until I learned of Brent, I was strongly looking at this candidate.
The third is a bit more concerning and I wouldn’t be surprised if the establishment lines up behind him. Comments on some facebook threads appear to be leaning in this guy’s direction although I question the validity of those comments (some may call it a conspiracy of bots). Still, to me it is a sign of establishment favoritism.
Please be conscience of this when reporting. Just because Andrea Ramsey dropped out does not mean Brent is the only candidate remaining. I want the facts with progressive commentary and interpretation. Not massaged facts presented with a favoritism towards progressive candidates. Keep up the good work!
Although for many years — way before Bernie Sanders– I realized that huge amounts of cash going to elections from very few donors was the biggest problem for our democracy–in tilting the process steadily more and more to benefit mostly those of high wealth. So I think this is very important to fix.
BUT– I have NO IDEA how you propose to do this. Specifically please tell me what changes to the constitution do you believe could accomplish this. How do you keep big money from NOT leaking into the process that decides who are in Congress–some way that big money won’t find a loophole to work around? I’ve got a few thoughts about how–not easy, but I think possible. But I want to hear what YOUR proposal(s) is/are,, This is the discussion I would like to see you have. Very important to get something that will really be effective. Very highly paid lawyers will be working very hard to defeat any proposal.
A whisper in a Dream.
Mike should add these words to his elevator pitch: “to get corporate money out of politics.” Yes “saving democracy” and “restoring balance and integrity to our elections”, but that’s too vague. Also you didn’t show the John URL. Wolf-pack.com is about the “rewilding of men.”
