Black Lives Matter activists have been protesting outside of a Minneapolis, MN police station for days now following the death of Jamar Clark who was unarmed when killed by police. Armed, masked counter-protestors began showing up to the BLM protests. Today five BLM protesters were shot. Cenk Uygur, hosts of the The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
“A group of suspected white supremacists fired into a crowd of Black Lives Matter activists protesting the Minneapolis police killing of Jamar Clark.
At least five people were wounded when the gunmen opened fire about 10:45 p.m. Monday at the city’s Fourth Precinct, reported the Star Tribune.
UPDATE: Emails reveal racists plotted confrontation with Black Lives Matters activists days before shooting
Police said all five victims were treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, although authorities said additional victims may have been wounded and sought treatment on their own.
Investigators have not released much information so far about the possible suspects, saying only they were seeking three white men, but protesters said they had a pretty clear idea of who fired the gunshots.
“A group of white supremacists showed up at the protest, as they have done most nights,” said Miski Noor, a Black Lives Matter activist.
Another demonstrator said one of the three men wore a mask and stayed at the protest site since early morning Monday, taunting the protesters.”*

If this was reported accurately and counter protesters were coming in masks I thought this segment needed a little more information, such as MN stat. 609.735. This section is part of Minnesota’s criminal code. It makes it a misdemeanor to conceal one’s identity unless certain exceptions are met. Enforcing this law may have kept this incident from occurring. However, it is only fair to note that these protests have made it more difficult for the Mpls police department to actually do their job and the BLM protestors should have asked the police to handle the situation for them (if they did and you reported they asked for assistance I missed it).
I also want to point out that these BLM protestors may have pick the wrong incident to protest in this case and are being disrespectful to the family of the individual shot. I saw an interview of his sister on the local news (MN) and she did not seem to be fond of this protest. Also, as the facts come to light in this case it may simply drag the departed’s’ name through the mud. in a public manner in order to show that the police acted reasonably in this case. The family will be subjected to this at a moment when they are grieve for their loss. Based on the limited facts I have, this family should be left alone to grieve in private and the BLM group should look for cases that will factually support their cause, such as the man who was tased for no reason while waiting for his son to get out of school.
