Thankfully, there were some presidential contenders on both the Republican and Democratic sides who were willing to stand up for Muslim-Americans’ right to exist, in reference to things said at a recent Trump town hall. Cenk Uygur, John Iadarola (Think Tank), and Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show Podcast), hosts of the The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
“Chris Christie spoke about Donald Trump‘s Q&A blunder on NBC’s Today, where he went after The Donald for declining the opportunity to correct a questioner who was saying that President Obamawas a Muslim who was “not even an American.”
Christie said that as an aspiring leader, Trump has an “obligation” to set things straight and offer corrections whenever fielding such questions.
“I would correct them and I would say, ‘The President’s a Christian and he was born in this country.’ Those two things are self-evident,” Christie said. “Donald Trump’s got to decide, as we’ve seen, I’ve said this all along. He’s got to decide how serious a candidate he wants to be, and how he handles different problems like this are going to determine that.””*
