I hope you would’ve talked more about the connection of the two… You just called them “conservatives” again, but it’s often times feminists who go after porn and/or prostitution, because they’re convinced that it’s part of the rape culture. I actually discussed that issue quite a bit on different feminist web blogs, facebook etc. The general idea is that if you are a woman who loves porn, who want to work in the adult industry or explore BDSM etc you’ve internalized sexism and misogyny and if you are a man in one of those than you are complicit in upholding the patriarchal system and the supression of women. So they urge governments to ban porn, and also any form of buying sex for money. TYT tends to shut down the controversies inside the feminist movement by calling all people with similar positions conservatives – that’s factually wrong, because even if they are conservatives, the last demand (selling sex is allowed, buying sex is forbidden) is f.e. a position solely uphold by feminists… Of course MRAs are wrong, of course it’s not all feminists, maybe it is a small minority even, but they are very outspoken, they are very good organized, they seem to be everywhere, at least in every discussion about sexism/feminism/patriarchy etc – they are very influential, having an effect on governments worldwide – look at swedish concerning prostitution, islandish laws against strip clubs, and indian laws against porn etc – It wold be fair towards them, if you’d address their concerns, but if you disagree, it’s also important to address the issues and speak up against them – otherwise they will always seem as THE feminist movement and they will get their demands through eventually… It needed a counter-movement in India – how many of those protesters were women, or self-labeled feminists I don’t know – but frankly, it would be time for another feminist sex war (if you disagree, if you agree with them, it would also fair to let your audience know)…
