Chicago has banned rapper Chief Keef, because of his criminal record. Chief Keef wanted to perform in the city to honor the death of another rapper and boy killed in gang violence. He performed from Beverly Hills but his hologram was in Chicago. The police shut down the concert. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian (The Point) hosts of The Young Turks discuss.
Does Rahm Emanuel have the right to shutdown the concert? Does this violate free speech? Let us know in the comments below.

“Midwestern authorities really don’t like Chief Keef — there are warrants for his arrest in the region, while Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has gone so far as to say the young man “promotes violence” when he performs. And apparently, that public safety concern also covers virtual performances. Police in Hammond, Indiana shut down a surprise holographic Keef concert (technically, a Pepper’s Ghost trick) this weekend despite the flesh-and-bone star being 2,000 miles away in Beverly Hills, California. Officials had warned that they would clamp down if they saw Keef play, but a festival promoter argues that they didn’t have a “real reason” why a hologram wasn’t allowed — especially since the musician was fundraising for victims of violence.”

Chief Keef is literally the worst. I live in Chicago and have been here for 30+ years, in the englewood neighborhood. We asked the mayor to keep him away from our children. Stop the killing benefit ? This is coming from the same guy that stated in the wake of the 141 shootings in 2014 says my next album is going to raise the murder rate. Personally trusting him to honor his word and have a benefit without mentioning how he will kill, get revenge, and literally murder anyone, is like letting Donald Trump present your family at a quinceanera. Nope not going to happen. If he wanted to do something charitable, pay for both funerals, or just clean up your lyrics.
Hey guys.
I seem to agree with pretty much most of the positiions you take, but as a fan of real, thought-provoking hip hop I have to say that chief keef is he absolute bottom of the barrel talentwise and as a person and you really shouldn’t have his back. He’s only known at all because he shot at cops in the first place and lived to talk about it. Contributes greatly to the death spiral actually occurring in Chicago. Not just hypotheticaly in his music.
